Antigua and Barbuda Highlights Investment Opportunities at Inaugural Caribbean Canadian Investment Summit & Trade Forum

Antigua and Barbuda is participating in the inaugural Caribbean Canadian Investment Summit & Trade Forum, being held from September 25–26, 2026, at the Novotel Toronto North York. The two-day forum brings together government representatives, members of the diplomatic community, investors, entrepreneurs, financial institutions and business leaders to explore opportunities for greater investment, trade and economic collaboration between Canada and the Caribbean.

Consul General Gail Christian, Chair of the Caribbean Canadian Consular Corps in Toronto, welcomed participants to the inaugural gathering, emphasizing the longstanding relationship between Canada and the Caribbean and the opportunity to transform those connections into new avenues for enterprise and shared prosperity.

“This Summit begins with a simple but powerful idea: that the relationship between Canada and the Caribbean can become even more consequential when friendship is matched by enterprise, and when longstanding ties are transformed into new opportunities for investment, trade and shared prosperity.”

In her remarks, Consul General Christian highlighted emerging opportunities throughout the Caribbean in areas including renewable energy, modern infrastructure, food security, tourism, housing, technology and resilient communities. She also noted the complementary strengths that Canada and the Caribbean bring to potential partnerships, including capital, innovation, expertise, strategic locations, emerging industries and talented people.

Antigua and Barbuda Presents Priority Investment Opportunities

As part of the Summit, Antigua and Barbuda has presented a country investment profile outlining priority areas for prospective investors, developers, financial institutions and technical partners. The opportunities reflect the country’s focus on sustainable economic growth, food and energy security, climate resilience, economic diversification and international partnerships.

  • Tourism and Hospitality: Opportunities in luxury resorts, boutique hotels, wellness tourism, marina developments, eco-tourism, branded residences and tourism support services. Investment opportunities range from approximately US$10 million to US$100 million and above.
  • Renewable Energy and Sustainable Infrastructure: Opportunities include utility-scale solar generation, battery energy storage, distributed renewable energy solutions and energy infrastructure upgrades, with investment sought from approximately US$20 million to US$50 million and above.
  • Climate-Resilient Agriculture and Food Security: Priority areas include climate-smart agriculture, greenhouse and hydroponic systems, irrigation, livestock development, agro-processing, cold storage and agricultural technology. Investment opportunities range from approximately US$5 million to US$30 million and above.

The Summit provides an important platform for connecting Caribbean governments and businesses with Canadian investors and institutions while encouraging relationships that can continue beyond the event.

Consul General Christian encouraged participants to use the gathering not simply to exchange business cards, but to build meaningful relationships and explore opportunities capable of developing into long-term partnerships.

“For investors, I hope this Summit encourages you to see the Caribbean not simply as a place to visit, but as a place in which to build.”

The Caribbean Canadian Consular Corps has also reaffirmed its role in helping to facilitate introductions, connect prospective investors with appropriate institutions and support the continuation of discussions initiated during the Summit.

Antigua and Barbuda remains committed to fostering an investment-friendly environment that supports innovation, sustainable development and inclusive economic growth, while welcoming mutually beneficial partnerships with investors from Canada and the wider international community.
