The Consulate General of Antigua and Barbuda in Toronto was honoured to join in celebrating the Independence and National Day of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh at a special reception hosted by the Consulate General of Bangladesh.

Held on Thursday, April 2, 2026, the evening brought together members of the diplomatic corps, distinguished guests, and members of the Bangladeshi diaspora in Toronto to commemorate this important national milestone.

The event was graciously hosted by Consul General Mr. Md. Shah Alam Khokon and Mrs. Ilma Afrin Silvia, who welcomed attendees to an evening of reflection, cultural appreciation, and diplomatic engagement. The celebration highlighted Bangladesh’s journey, resilience, and continued progress since independence.

Guests were treated to a well-curated programme, including formal remarks and presentations that underscored the historical significance of the day. The gathering also provided an opportunity for meaningful interaction among members of the diplomatic community, strengthening ties and fostering mutual respect among nations.

Representing Antigua and Barbuda, Mrs. Gail Christian joined fellow diplomats in celebrating the occasion. Vice Consul Hechme was also present. Their participation reaffirmed the importance of international friendship and cooperation. Events such as these continue to reinforce the shared values of unity, cultural exchange, and global partnership.

The Consulate extends warm congratulations to the Government and people of Bangladesh on this significant occasion and wishes them continued success and prosperity.
