TORONTO, ON – April 2026 – Her Honour the Honourable Edith Dumont, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, welcomed Gail Christian, the newly appointed Consul General of Antigua and Barbuda, for a courtesy call at Queen’s Park.

The introductory meeting focused on Consul General Christian’s recent appointment and the growing relationship between Antigua and Barbuda and the Province of Ontario. Discussions highlighted Antigua and Barbuda’s independent tourism office in Toronto, led by Ms. Tameka Wharton, as well as expanding opportunities for trade and investment and the vital role of the Antiguan and Barbudan diaspora in Ontario’s cultural and economic life.

“As we deepen our presence in Canada, Ontario remains a critical partner,” said Consul General Christian. “This visit reaffirms our commitment to fostering stronger people-to-people ties, advancing tourism and economic cooperation, and celebrating our shared heritage.”

As a gesture of goodwill and cultural exchange, Consul General Christian presented Her Honour with a print of a painting by Kwame Delfish, a celebrated Canadian artist of Antiguan parentage. The artwork reflects the vibrant heritage and natural beauty of Antigua and Barbuda, while honouring the contributions of the diaspora to Canada’s arts community.

Her Honour expressed appreciation for the gift and warmly welcomed Consul General Christian to Ontario. She noted the province’s longstanding connections with the Caribbean and recognized the important contributions of Antiguans and Barbudans to communities across Ontario.
