Toronto, Canada – 19 July 2026 – The Consulate General of Antigua and Barbuda in Toronto welcomed members of the Antiguan and Barbudan community, friends, diplomatic colleagues, and distinguished guests to High Tea 2026 – For a Higher Cause, an elegant afternoon dedicated to fellowship, community, and charitable giving in support of the Antigua and Barbuda Emergency Relief Canada (ABERC).

Held at the beautiful Bayview Golf & Country Club, the event embraced the theme “Elegance, Connection and Compassion,” bringing together attendees for an afternoon of fine teas, entertainment, networking, and fundraising.

The event was held under the distinguished patronage of The Honourable E.P. Chet Greene, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Immigration, and Mrs. Gwendolyn Greene.

In welcoming guests, Consul General Gail Christian reflected on the importance of maintaining strong connections among Antiguans and Barbudans living abroad while supporting meaningful causes at home. She noted that although Antigua and Barbuda and Canada are separated by distance, the community continues to carry its homeland through its values, traditions, culture, and commitment to one another. She also expressed heartfelt appreciation to the sponsors, volunteers, entertainers, and everyone whose generosity made the event possible.

The Consulate was honoured to welcome The Honourable Kiz Johnson, Member of Parliament for St. Phillip’s South and Minister of State in the Ministry of Social and Urban Transformation, who delivered the keynote address. Minister Johnson praised ABERC’s remarkable commitment to Antigua and Barbuda over more than three decades, highlighting the organization’s vital role in supporting the nation during times of disaster and need. She also encouraged members of the diaspora to remain actively connected to their homeland, reminding attendees that every act of generosity, service, and advocacy strengthens Antigua and Barbuda and helps build a more resilient future.

Guests enjoyed live musical entertainment, a beautifully curated high tea experience, exciting prize presentations, and a lively celebration of elegance through fashionable attire and fascinators. Awards were presented for standout participants, adding to the spirit of the afternoon while highlighting the warmth and camaraderie shared throughout the event.

The Consulate General extends its sincere gratitude to ABERC, all sponsors and partners, volunteers, performers, and every guest who attended and contributed to the success of this fundraiser. The generosity demonstrated throughout the afternoon will help support ABERC’s ongoing mission of providing emergency assistance and relief to families in Antigua and Barbuda whenever the need arises.
