Today, Thursday, 10 September 2026, Antigua and Barbuda pauses in observance of our National Day of Prayer—a day set apart from the ordinary pace and demands of life to reflect, to give thanks, and to seek God’s guidance for ourselves, our families, our communities and our nation.

Prayer reminds us that, even amid progress and achievement, there is value in humility. It calls us to look beyond ourselves; to remember those who are burdened, grieving, uncertain or in need; to pray for wisdom for those entrusted with leadership; and to recommit ourselves to building a society marked by compassion, justice, peace and care for one another.

As Scripture reminds us:
“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.”
— 1 Timothy 2:1–2 (KJV)

For Antiguans and Barbudans at home and throughout the diaspora, including our community here in Canada, this day also offers an opportunity to reflect upon the bonds that unite us as one people. Though distance may separate us from our homeland, we remain connected by our shared heritage, our concern for its future, and our hopes for the generations that will follow us.

On this National Day of Prayer, may we remember our nation’s leaders and public servants; our children and young people; our elders; our churches and communities; those who are sick or grieving; those facing hardship; and all who labour each day for the peace, security and prosperity of Antigua and Barbuda.

In observance of the National Day of Prayer, the Consulate General of Antigua and Barbuda in Canada will be closed today, Thursday, 10 September 2026.

Regular consular services will resume on Friday, 11 September 2026.
